Baby furniture

Well, since I am home today with a backache, I decided to post pictures of the baby furniture we have picked out. We are waiting to buy it until after the baby is born, depending on if we have a boy or girl. I have some room decor for either gender, but we are waiting to put it up until we know what the baby is.

38 weeks (12 days left)

I have been feeling pretty good the last few days, and my back pain has even subsided quite a bit. The baby has been stretching out like crazy, often giving me a stomachache. I'm definitely in nesting mode, trying to get those small things done and things cleaned as much as I can before the baby comes. We are getting excited to see if it's a girl or boy. The anticipation leading to the birth is starting to kill me! At 37 weeks, I was 2 1/2 cm dilated, but my midwife said it doesn't mean I'll be early or late, just that once labor starts, it will go fast. I haven't had any contractions, so it could be anytime, or it could be another two weeks! My mom had fast labors, so I'm hoping it passed down to me!

The bags and car seat are the in car, and my music playlist for the hospital is ready to go (thanks to my sweet husband). My parents will be flying down once I'm in labor. I'm trying to stay busy so I don't go crazy waiting. Prayers are appreciated in the next couple weeks!

Christmas, Baby shower, and Maternity pictures

I feel like I have a few random things, so I'll just number them to make it easier!

1. I'm sure most of you know by now that we didn't get the house I posted on an earlier post. It was a big disappointment, but we are trying to focus on the fact that God has a better plan. I had already packed some boxes, so I left them to unpack after Christmas. We are still looking for other houses, but aren't finding the size we want for the price we want. I don't like feeling unsettled and that this house is temporary when the baby comes, so I'm praying for peace about all of that.

2. Adding to the stress of that is that we are going to Alabama at the end of March for 2 months of officer school for John's job. I'm glad I get to go, but it is a little overwhelming thinking about taking a 6 week old.

3. I had a great time in Washington, a fun Christmas, and a blessed baby shower. The day I came back to California, I got a cold, which is still alive and strong! It takes so much longer to get over them when you're pregnant. I was really bummed to come home not feeling well because I just wanted to start unpacking the house and organizing things. Today I'm trying to rest by catching up on baby books.

4. We got maternity pictures done a couple days ago by a photographer friend in my Bible study. Even though I wasn't feeling my best, they were fun, and I loved how they turned out.

Merry Christmas 2011

“Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice.” – Dave Barry

Every year I try to write the world’s greatest Christmas letter. And every year I think I almost do it. That is until today when my sweet wife politely suggested, “try to write a funny one this year”. So the last three were duds, lesson learned. This year I will quit trying so hard and just be funny. Thanks for the advice Bryn.

Most people can only recall 7.8% of things they read. And 86% of statistics are made up, so I will write this entire letter in great detail of our lives in 2011. However, for the important highlights that make up the 7.8% I WILL WRITE IN ALL CAPS AND BOLD. Now everyone can remember the fun details (that they probably already read on Facebook) and this letter will go down as our (my) greatest (funniest) letter in the history (3 years) of the Wimberley Christmas letter (Bryn makes me do this).

We were so blessed this year. Bryn was finally able to have surgery on her hip. It was a small procedure that was very successful and she fully recovered in no time. The surgeon and his staff were actually some of the nicest people we had ever met. We are very grateful for their care. And now with her surgically enhanced hip, she can run a marathon in 37 minutes. So she has that going for her as well.

Our biggest news for 2011 has to be that we (Bryn) are pregnant with our first child! Bryn is due February 9, 2012 (she hopes it won’t be too late and be a Valentine’s Day baby). We are crazy and have decided to wait on finding out the gender until D-Day. (Blame me if you think we’re crazy). We are really excited to start this new chapter in our lives (Bryn is prepared, and I have no idea what’s about to hit me). We (Bryn) have had a great pregnancy so far (I get a little hungry), and we are hoping/praying that it stays that way until February (but not to the 14th, just the 9th).

And now all the other stuff that isn’t as cool as the baby. I have almost completed my coursework for my Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Finance. I should have that done by February. I got to fly the 4th of July flyover over the Sacramento baseball stadium and I flew some the President’s folks to Bali. (Thank you, Mr. President sir.) We have found an incredible church home and made many new close friends. We were part of a small group there and had a great time. Bryn also joined a Bible Study and has become friend with a lot of great women who all seem to be pregnant at the same time (it’s in the water). We have seen some beautiful locations that Northern California has to offer including: San Francisco, Monterey, Caramel, Santa Cruz, Palo Alto, Lake Tahoe, the Redwoods, Napa Valley, and Sacramento. Bryn has continued to grow her personal business of hair accessories (http://www.etsy.com/shop/brynmj), she reads about 1000 blogs everyday (not exaggerating), she continues to be the best cook ever (not exaggerating), and designs new projects around the house every chance she gets.

We are thankful for family and friends to share these details with. We pray that everyone has had a good year in 2011 and that there are many more to come. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love,

John & Bryn Wimberley (Fenway too…)
